I’m a bookkeeping and payroll consultant based in McKinney, Texas. I’ve been doing corporate accounting and bookkeeping for over 15 years. I love helping my clients have clean financials records so that their CPAs say things like, “The financials look great as always!” come tax time. I strive to bring peace of mind to my clients so that they know their bookkeeping is one thing they don’t have to think about every day.
My Story
Joy graduated from Loyola Marymount University with a Bachelor’s of Business Administration with an emphasis in Finance. After graduating a semester early, she moved to San Diego and began working for Karl Strauss. Joy fell in love with San Diego and the beer and restaurant industry in San Diego. In her time there, she achieved earning a Master’s of Business Administration. In 2012, Joy met her husband, a CPA and financial planner in Fullerton, CA. Not long after they met, Joy knew she’d end up moving to Fullerton.
Since her college days, she has been extremely involved in Delta Sigma Pi, an International Business Fraternity. Joy served as Regional Vice President of the Pacific Coast Region of Delta Sigma Pi from 2013-2015, overseeing the nine collegiate and three alumni chapters in the region. For regional and provincial conferences, Joy also serves as a presenter on a variety of topics from leadership planning, to operations, to goal setting and helping students develop ideas for getting in touch with their alumni.
Joy progressed from being an accounts payable clerk at a national law firm, to being an accounting assistant for an International design firm, to growing to be an extremely respected member of the accounting team of Karl Strauss Breweries in San Diego. At Karl Strauss, Joy grew from being an accounts payable clerk to being the Senior Accountant responsible for managing the accounts payable clerk, payroll, inventory, cash reconciliations, report writing, complex bonus calculations, and overseeing the accounts payable on a construction project that the company took on during her time there. At Karl, Joy used Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains).
Since leaving Karl Strauss, Joy has been working with QuickBooks, Xero, and Waveapps for bookkeeping and Gusto for payroll. In QuickBooks, Joy has become an expert report writer. For one company, she cut 16 hours/week of data entry work with the creation of two reports within the first two months.
She and her husband Andrew are the proud parents of two kiddos and are enjoying exploring their new home state of Texas.
